it’s difficult to get residency in america, i think if you have a criminal record then you’re screwed, especially for drug offences. but it’s a lovely place, the mountains are wonderful. i want just a little woodland house by the side of a lake in the mountains where i can retreat and paint :O that would be my dream. i agree with needing to get away from this country. i bet san diego is awesome! haven’t made it as far as california but it must be so pretty.

Nice! Wish I had seen that much of it, plan to do a road trip drive across it type thing one day. Nice big cadalac or something.

I have no criminal record so that’s all good. San Diego was okay, very business like (went with my dads company). Wouldn’t want to live there.

I have seen Slayer, Cradle of filth (before they got shit), Rammstien, slipknot (before they got crap) live more than once if that counts?

Not really into Metal though more all the bits around it in all honesty. Slayer were fucking shite. Saw Iron Maiden once they were good fun. Black Sabbath were better. As I say, the bits around it rather than metal.

Society is already going backwards, the will of the people has re-elected a Tory Government who are going to clamp down a lot on the music industry and nightlife soon particularly live performances, and reintroduce forms of censorship that those in their 20s may not have seen.

One persons backwards is another persons forwards. Infinate shades of grey over black and white.

the “socio economic” factors are no excuse – plenty of people live on Londonistan estates in poor conditions and don’t shoot one another. There are plenty of fairly well off artists who have been busted for all sorts of crime including violent crime. it is becoming part of the culture of the pop music scenes.

The mobo afterparty got locked off because people started fighting there and most of these were established “professional” artists. There are reports of bullying, violence and class A drugs use on the West End and Harry Potter film sets.

its really simple to define what behaviour amongst “artists” or anyone else is acceptable – we have a rule of law in this country and they obey it like anyone else does or face the consequences.

I didn’t say it was an excuse I said it was a significant factor. Nothing excuses such things, but to engore or over simplify the reasons is not exactly going to get society very far.

In the UK photographers actually have the right to take a picture of anyone elses car if they so wish, and provided they aren’t inviting people to trash it they can put it on their blog or sell it to the papers or whatever and the driver has no right to attack them. it doesn’t matter who they are, although a non-celeb might be able to argue that the photographer should erase the registration mark of the car like they do on Street View.

Not really talking about the specific incident tbh I am making a more general point.

No art is not the most important thing in the world, but it comes pretty high up there when you are lucky enough to live in a rich western nation. Or at least it does for me. And relativity is important, we dont tell people to shut their moaning when their cat dies because people are being raped in Darfur

hmmm I dunno man that seems like a hell of a generalisation to say if you let artists agos run riot (and how do you define that) you end up with rappers shooting each other. I think there are far more significant factors than that, largly socio-economic.

I don’t like celebratory culture but that is more a reflection of human nature than it is anything else. And it seems to make a lot of people happy and give them fulfillment so who am I to say its worthless.

                                                  complex thats for sure.

but the quality will suffer 🙁

some how dont think lou Reed or Bowie would have worked quite so well if they were working in sainsburys.

ego in relation to art can be important, even if its unpleasnt.

I dont see why we need to like artists as people, Jackson Pollock used to beat his wife but I still like his paintings.

JK is an ego centric rich boy but I still like a couple of his songs. Its not like I am going to ever meet him.

I care about the art not how easy to get on with or how kind they are. Just my perspective though and I am but young.
